We are an educational after-school program.
Our work is three fold:
1. To teach English to West Philadelphia students of African background from grades 1-8, with a focus on reading, comprehension, writing, and speaking.
2. To create a tailored Africa-centered curriculum for our sessions with stories of empowering individuals of African background in the continent and throughout the diaspora.
3. To promote cultural pride and self-awareness by centering our teaching and learning in our students' experiences in a welcoming environment.
We meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:30-5pm at the Blackwell Library (Paul Robeson High School 4125 Ludlow St, Philadelphia, PA 19104).
